First Week

Wow, this week has just flown by. The campers are being pushed both mentally and physically by the FCB coaches. Although the weather has been hot, the boys and girls continue to rise to the expectations set out for them by Henrique (FCB Director of Coaching) and his professional and energetic staff.
Everyone loved the few hours we spent touring Las Ramblas in small groups on Tuesday. The Picasso Museum, which we visited on Wednesday was unbelievable. And tonite we were given a guided tour of the Gothic Quarter and learned about the history of the city of Barcelona. Oh yeah, I almost forgot, one of the two tour groups ran into LL Cool J, in the St George Plaza and was able to snap some pictures with him.
Well, tomorrow we are off to Tossa del Mar, a beautiful beach village on the Costa Brava, one and a half hours north of Barcelona...bring the sun tan lotion!

Day One: Training & Parc Guell

Everyone arrived safe and sound and quickly began making friends.
After dinner we watched the USA battle Brazil in a hotly contested match, only to see the boys in red, white and blue lose a heartbreaker in their first appearance in a FIFA final.
Monday morning we arrived at the Camp Nou facilities, home to FC Barcelona and promptly began a lively training session directed by the FCB training staff.
After eating lunch at the ice hockey arena cafe, the players were given a brief tour of the Nou Camp grounds.
Upon completion of the first day's training we toured Parc Guell, a Barcelona landmark, created by Gaudi. We toured the park in wonderment of its grand design and architecture, simply stunning.
Everyone is looking forward to a good night's rest after our eventful day.

"It was unbelievable walking and training on the same fields as our Barcelona idols. And the strawberry slushie wasn't bad either!" -Hannah Kwang, Houston, Texas
